I have an S14 and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on boxes that will fit without much customizing. Im thinking Im going to need a custom built box to get what I need, I had 2 sony 12's in my car and the trunk was so small it really suffocated the subs and they didnt hit hard at all and you could barely hear the bass outside the car(yes, I like pissing people off, mainly my dad, but yea...:happyfing).

The setup I had was nothing stellar, not by any stretch, 2 12 Xplodes with a 1200 watt amp, but the thing was they romped when I had them in my jetta with the massive trunk then when I got them into my car they just didnt hit nearly as hard and were not even close to as loud. Im guessing it was due to the lack of space in the trunk considering the box just barely fit. I actually had to cut it down 1/2 of an inch in length so the trunk hinges wouldnt hit it. That too I give some credit as to why they didnt sound as good.

So I guess my question to anyone else with the same car what do you have and how loud is it? Im looking to go with maybe a single kicker L7 15 or 12 depending on what I can fit. Im looking to maximize the noise with what I got, and I was just curious as to what anyone else may have and if they had any success with a kicker 15 or if 1 12 would work, or if maybe I should go a different direction altogether...

any input is much appreciated, thanks.

I built a custom slot-ported box for a single DD 3500 12" and it hammered - HARD. Sub was facing upwards at the very back of the trunk with the slot port firing out the side into the side of the trunk area. I have to get very creative with amplifier placement but it was all worth it. Pretty sure the dude is deaf by now. Haha!

Yep I don't do anything small. I want two amps because that way I can still have two channels, and they don't build an amp that is made by kicker that is a two channel that will drive 2 L7's, hence the use of monoblocks.

^Well I know that but, 2? I mean are you going for SPL comps or something? cause I can almost gaurentee if you dont put those in bg enough boxes, Min req. for 2 12's ported is ~4ft^3, then you stuff is making the best it can, but o each his own :)

I know about the requirements for them, I plan on turning my whole hatch area into an enclosure. the sealed box sizing is .88-2 cu.ft. and ported is 1.75-3.25 cu.ft. And I was actually considering doing sealed boxes in my hatch. Dunno tho, I haven't decided yet, and yes I will go to the occasional db drag.
