Sounds like the little piece that presses into the tail light switch isn't pressing in to turn off the lights. It should mount to the brake pedal and line up with the switch.

 

yeah for some odd reason nissan likes to use these little rubber bumpers to depress the brake light switch..
on the bright side you can usually get a pack of generic replacements at most auto parts stores for a couple bucks. Fun parts gettin it back in..

 

you can get a new one from the dealership for under a dollar. the new ones are clear plastic instead of rubber...

grab the prake pedal. follow the metal upward, its a hole in the metal, about the size of a penny

alright i found the little button behind the brake pedal. Having long ass arms doesnt help. Anyways.. its cold as shit outside so i could feel my fingers anymore so i will get some tape and paper VERY SOON lol or go to a dealership whenever the weather gets better

i supper glued the rubber peace back on and its still there aw the win.

 

It makes literally no sense for the little piece of rubber to be there. It flummoxed me when I had my Nissan 720 years ago. Anyways, just go get the oem part from Nissan. The guy at the dealership I went to had them under the counter. Cost like 61 cents or something.

 

the stock rubber sucks, the new one is clear plastic and looks like it will last a while...

 

The plastic ones crack in half eventually. Either way, just keep like 2 of them in the glovebox.

 

^Yes I've had the new one crack on me also not even 3yrs later...
Thus I said fuck it and had Tape and Paper in the Car when it didn't want to start (Clutch Switch)

 

Shouldn't the car start with the clutch pedal fully out without the switch plug, not the other way around? Without the plug, it reads like the clutch is depressed.... :beer2:

1 For Fully Pressed and 1 for Fully Released
Fully pressed switch to start
Fully Released switch for Cruise

 

What's to stop you if you're bored from welding a plug in? I think they only reason they did it with a plug was to prevent the plastic on the switch from breaking, causing an expensive fail rather than a cheap fail.

 

Don't see what your getting at.......

You just kind of contradicted your self, suggesting welding in a plug/piece of metal but explaining a possible reason why they didn't which more than likely is the reason.

Also I'm pretty sure a simple bolt and nut would be much easier...

 

More like 24+ hours no sleep thinking to myself on a forum. My point is that it's probably designed that way for a reason. If it's not, then wouldn't welding or a metal plug fix the problem?

I think it won't, it will just break the switch.

 

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. i grabbed one of those sticky things u stick on the back of posters and pictures. it will last maybe a week or so lol i dont have tape... or anything!!

welding? who the hell can get down there and weld. I dont think i can wrap tape down there because i couldnt have both of my arms under there at the same time. Unless i get some lil guy to do it for me.

 

I used 3m doubled sided tape and a piece of thick paper. Been like that for over 6 months and no problem.
