The quest for 300whp

I'm going to do a swap over winter and its not coming back out until I'm sure it will make that power number.

Some of plans.
CA18DET
GT2871r
3" Turbo back

Questions:
How much boost do you guys thing I will need to run? 15?
How big of a front mount do you think I should run?
What size injectors? DSM 550cc?
Anything else that should be brought up?

Your biggest problem is going to be fuel management... You need something to tell the ecu you need more fuel at a certain rpm, or all of your winter investment goes boom. Some guys are good enough that they can use a wideband + SAFC to adjust it enough to make it run decent, but I would suggest some other type of piggy back at the very least. Lot's of people use the Emange Ultimate, and it is damn near a standalone as far as tuning capabilities are considered. So make sure to look into it.

As for the turbo, I would go with the gt3076r. 550cc injectors should do it, aftermarket fuel pump such as walbro or a tt300zx or supra pump, that intercooler is pretty small, but it doesn't need to be huge to be effective - I hope you know/are a good welder. The exhaust should be rather easy. All that would be needed is a custom dump and downpipe.

That should net you 300whp pretty easy on 10psi, but the turbo is big enough with additional tuning and some more psi, it could net 350hp if you ever choose to do so!

Well I'm at a point were my 300 is just what I want from this turbo. Next year I'm buying my buddies 35r. I also want internally gated for now because I'm sticking with the stock manifold. I am a good welder but I was told you can use an SR down pipe and O2 housing. Am I wrong? My exhaust is an Apexi Noir Catback.

So an SAFC won't cut it for fuel managemnt? Does Power FC work with the CA? I want to stay away from Emanage because everyone I know that uses it has bad experiences.

550cc injectors do sound like the size I should be going with so thats what I'll get. I plan on getting a Walbro 255 for a fuel pump and obviously a regulator.

stock o2 housing should fit, it may need some filing on the bolt holes though. maybe a little.
you can probably get a power fc for the ca if you look hard enough. just find one for a 180sx. as far as emanage ask bojangles.

a power fc can do realtime map value changes or changes to any other value, at realtime, with fc datalogit software. buying the fc datalogit box and software is very worth it if you plan on tuning any of it, any time, yourself. otherwise the only person that will be able to do anything cell by cell REALTIME would be a lisenced apexi tuner, using their software. you can edit cell by cell with a hand commander that comes with the power fc, but its alot lot better doing it on a laptop with the software.

the power fc iseasy and convinient since you just swap out the ecu, plug in some shit, plug some shit to your laptop, do the idle correction and go drive. thats why i like the power fc. simple and less problems. if you live where its nice most of the time, and want to make a shitload of power at a later date get a d jetro and convert to map.

also you can tune the stock ecu with rom tuning. or a daughterboard setup. im not too informed on that shit though. for rom tuning just contact enthalpy. hes all you need to know.

^^^ wrong screw piggyback systems when there is stuff like calumsult out there its all about the real time daughter board or full standalone stay away from piggy backs. emanage ultimate is the only decent one and its not that great especially since calumsult blows it away in price and usability.

how about eat a dick. i have first hand experience having to worry about writing/burning/chipping ecu's. try datalogging on a CA without a piggyback. you cant. have you had experience with any of the system i mentioned? i love how you have to put your 2 cents into everything. but now that you have, whats wrong with a good piggyback that you can datalog, tune realtime with fuel and ignition, not have to even open your factory ecu, and monitor engine parameters while driving?

i wouldnt say piggybacks are half assed but they do their job and are appropiate in some cases. if i were to spend 450 on emanage ultimate i would just get megasquirt but even some people would say MS is half assed. its just preference. im doing MS right now so of course i think you should too..

1300 for an AP Engineering power fc is a little steep though. plus a boost control kit. meh...

atriczap. yes. CA ecu's are rather easy to chip. i have a chip i can sell you. i have a socketed ecu i can sell you too. you can take out the factory 28pin EPROM and solder in a socket. unless you have an emulator its a pain in the ass. its one of the reasons my shit isnt running and has never run right and im going standalone

Also, since this is for a CA, it has an 8bit eeprom chip, meaning you can directly socket the ECU without needing a db. Also, because of this, you can pick up a moats emulator for pretty cheap and do real time tuning directly with that, and not need to burn chips etc.

However, the CA ecu does NOT support Nissans consult, so, you will need a stand alone widevband o2 with data logging atleast to tune.
