What kind of tools would you need to do the swap right, around how much would i have to spend on just tools to do the swap, exclude the engine lift, b/c i can find someone that has that, thanks

:Sam:

sawzall and a welder thats it. no need for wrenches breaker bars scredrivers common sense none of that. just a welder and a sawzall.

heres an idea. go pop your hood. look at what it would take to take THAT engine out. see if you have those tools. now sit down fo this part... might stress your brain here.. the same tools used to take the KA out... are the same tools you'll need to put the SR in..... whoah... i know i know.. mind boggling.. just try and breathe.... deep breaths in and out... it'll all make sense in a minute

dude, he wasn't asking for everyone to be a jerk to him, he just wants to know ahead of time what he needs! I am about to do the swap, and I don't really feel like getting to a step then realizing that I don't have a certain socket, or that I left my torque wrench at my buddy's house. I'm gonne be doing the swap next weekend, and I'll record all the tools, so I'll make a complete list of what you need to do the swap without a hitch before hand.

The big F'in hammer that is. :p

and a break for some head
As in SR20DET head? :yummy

The more I think about it, the luckier I consider myself since I have a shop to work in. Free lift, free dyno runs, free tire mounting, free corner-weighting...OK OK I'll stop. You guys probably hate me by now! How many people actually do it in their garages? I would imagine this makes it alot more difficult to do right?

i mean head like go get some brain

the stfu cus you can work in the garage with the euro's
while i'm outside on an asphalt driveway trying to get my jack out...
I knew what you meant by head...just being a smartass...

And I aligned myself with the shop by doing alot of hard work for the guys that own it. We became friends in the process though, which was nice. So don't think I didn't work for what I have...I have put more unpaid hours into helping them than I have spent working on all the cars I've ever owned.

So it seems like most people do it out of a garage. Is this a fair statement to make?
