ok, ya, i know this probably wouldn't be the best swap around, nor am i saying it is even practical. but it would be cool seeing as how the powerband is pretty good on these engines. and it will have alot of aftermarket support. you are looking at as much as 287 hp in stock form. but it would probably be too costly to even make sence to have it in there. it would be cool though

I think if the rb25 fits, then the vq35 should fit too. It sounds like a good idea, and it probably would be kind of costly considering everything would need to be custom made, and the so-called "aftermarket" would be almost non-existant considering the performance parts designed for the vq were designed to fit in the 350z and the Altima's engine bays, not the 240's engine bay.

Well, you could add cams, intake, throttle body with aftermarket parts. You could also add a supercharger aftermarket. I wouldn't want to add a supercharger though. I think the weight and the power it puts out would be just about right for a s13. Just add some cams, intake and headers, possibly an uprade to the ECU.

Just how difficult would it be to mount the engine in the S13???

the VQ is BIG. you would ave a problem with it fitting. we have one in our pathy and ive noticed the thing is wide AND long. im sure length wouldnt be THAT bad, but width would be a big problem.

there is a VH41 swap, and ive seen a KA24E swapped into a 350Z, but no VQ in a S13 that i know of.

why would the VQ in the pathy be taller than the one in the Z? they should be the same dimensions give or take an inch or so because the Z has a different valve cover.

the KAE was done for SCCA GT4 classification. a group of students bought a shell and built a cage and everything using light-weight panels and a KAE because you cant have FI in that class, only carbs.

hasnt this been done and discussed and its tough as hell to do? but clearence issues are a problem. it would be tight fit so no room really for a turbo or anything.
heres a 350 with a tt kit on it and its already pretty tight. now imagine this in a 240...

The Signal sponsored 350Z drift car, has an S15 SR20 in place of the VQ. The engine is longer than it appears, and the SR20 in the 350Z has about 12-16 inches of room in the front of the engine, which gave them room for a Top mount.(after cutting the radiator support)

I beleive there is one in the Silver Signal 350Z. The RB20 is a tight fit, I'm not sure if the VQ would. Somebody get the width of the VQ, compared to the inner engine bay of an S13. I would get the specs but my friend sold his 350, and bought a Z31 300 :(

Why would it be so expensive??? I wonder if it would fit? Anyone know?

well lets see here...

THE ENGINE IS VERY NEW

I'm pretty sure its going to be expensive to buy a new VQ35 or be lucky to find a working one in a junkyard.
also thats an S13 SR in that 350z, why? I dunno.

and if they can put a VQ35DE in a Datsun honey bee, they can put one in a 240sx.

there were older KA24's in some datsuns I know the 510 for sure had a carb'd KA24.

Im sure in the future you will see swap kits for this motor. as far as I know the VQ is going to be Nissan of Japan's Top motor. the 05 skylines are comming out with the VQ motors so im sure we will see one done to a s13. and since Greddy already has TT kits for it Im sure you will have great power to weight ratio..
