I'm building my first 240. i will be picking up a 91 hatch. already gutted. my buddy has a built sr20 and it rips with 300 rwhp. my other buddy put a rb26 in a 95 240 and it went like a bastard and it had a blown piston the whole time and ddidnt know it till he tore it apart to freshen it up over the winter. so my question is if i were to put a rb26 in the 91 will it out perform the sr20 or will it be the same because if it is close to being the same i am going to go with the sr for half the price...... and is it hard to install and get the rb running... keep in mind my first 240.... have had lots of v8's currently running a 2000 mustang gt 5spd....but love the fact with have the motor get more power.........so let me know what i am going to expect and is the car hard to get running because i find people all over the place trying to do the sawp and can never get it running correctly. thanks all input appreciated

Do search son, it will explain basically everything you will need to know. Although to answer you, the rb26 is not any easy swap, it will out preform the sr (correct me if I'm wrong anyone) and especially for your first 240 I, for one, would stay away from it. And that last sentence in your post answered your own question, if you find people everywhere having trouble getting it run, then it is probably a really hard swap. :p

Basically the sr will be cheaper and easier to install while the rb will be much more complicated and expensive. the rb will have that cool factor and 6 boosted cylinders though.

search about peoples experiences with both and weigh the pros and cons of each.

i dropped an sr in my car and never did it before and it ran pretty much perfectly.

yeah sr is def better for ur first swap iv done a few rb26 swaps man they are a pain in the ass 2 do and u need tons of money. Also dont get a r32 rb beacuse u have 2 upgrade it right off the bat since its pretty much first gen and there was probs with the cranks and oil pumps

I have to agree with these guys, the rb WILL be a harder AND more expensive swap. Parts for the rb will be more expensive and are harder to come by than the sr.I went the rb route for my first swap and its taken almost a year to get it running properly but now i wouldnt trade it for anything, but thats after tons of work and money. I could have done 2 sr's for what i have in one rb so i can speak from experience. GL with which ever one you go with.
