Figured it would be an interesting thread, and also even a little informative for those considering getting into drifting and realizing the circumstances that may occur from it.

So what have you broken on your car from drifting?
How did you do it?

bent a flca and snapped a tension rod.

hit a curb drift in a parking lot. me and a friend that had his license took my car to my schools parking lot. and when we got there he got out and i started drifting ( with a learners permit) and hit a curb.

yes it was the most stupid thing i ever did. yea it was pretty teenage-ish (which i am a teen) and no i wont do it again.

Front Bumper - Ran over it
Side Skirts - Just too low and get broken over time
Rear Bumper - Broke it off and dragged around track for a while until the tire burned through the side piece.
Corner light - Somehow a rock went through it.
Quarter Panel - Not broke, but bent by hitting a wet hay bail.
Steering rack - Transition from bank to flat at Irwindale. Car too low.
Rear upper control arms - Cracked them just from abuse.
Tension rod - Bent from the car jumping in the air.
Coilover - Broken in half which caused the jump which caused bent tension rod.
Oil Pan - Not broke, but smashed in from being too low.
Exhaust - Broke hangers off for...don't know why.
Downpipe - Broken open from being too low.
Wheels - Not broken but bent from, I don't know.

I think that is it so far

Oh wait never mind

Other corner light - broken from hitting a hill.
Fender - bent from hitting hill.
Headlight brackets - broken from hitting hill.
Corner light - broken from hitting hay bail
Hood - Bent from hitting hay bail.
Bumper - Cracked from hitting hay bail.

ok thats all for real maybe

-I have ran over my zenki lip at least 5 times and have fixed it, re-painted it, and re-drilled holes on it. Some of the times was from my car being too low and one time I apex'd a curb too close, tow hook slid it and my lip flew off.

-Slid sideways into a curb on the touge at 50mph and killed a steelie, but still made it home on that same wheel.

-Understeered into a curb on the touge and killed another wheel and at the same time killed a
-inner tie rod
-topspeed tension rod
-sway bar link that attached to the lower control arm
-mangled the lower control arm

-Spun out in the rain and went into a tree backwards and smashed my rear bumper, still haven't replaced it even though I have a new one

-Spun out in the rain again hit a post and slightly bent in the corner right by the tail light (which my dad made even worse when he backed into that same exact spot).

-Slid into a mudd wall while trying to transfer from one corner to another on the touge and slightly bent in and scratched up the bottom of rear quarter panel and broke my side marker.

-Other then that I think the only other damage is my paint being fucked from hitting cones or cones flying at me while tandeming at events.

I only stick to track drifting now, its safer and is a lot less to worry about.

Oh yeah, I remembered more.

The time I broke my coilover and bent my tension rod, it twisted the lower control arm too.

And on my old S14, I hit a curb and broke/bent.
Wheel, upper control arm, toe link. Pretty sure it tweaked the subframe too, but I never looked into it because I knew it was fucked and didnt want to deal with it.

- going 80mph (the road was pretty wide so it felt kinda safe)? on a touge and then oversteered, 180'd into a guard rail and ruined pretty much the whole passenger side.
- understeered and ran into a shallow ditch but it had a rocky wall and my drivers side got messed up

got a nice ass zenki and i dont touge anymore, i stick to the track now too

I have broken some stuff in my day.

Back when i had my 89 fastback (KA-AUTO)
Drifting at its finest.. i bent/broke tension rod/FLCA

Then i also bent/pushed the subframe
including rear links and RLCA

But it was so much fun, i was like 17... it was my first RWD car.
4 years ago, before initial-D was really popular over in the states.
And people even know what drifting was.

I had the SR already at the time.. so i didn't really car about fucking up the motor. but i wound up messing up the suspention

driving threw a parking empty lot doing like 30 seen a 90 degree turn slid sideways in to curb. made my car look like the "back to future" . broke all drivers side suspension parts and broke sub frame

sliding around a round about went to exit seen an oncoming car oversteered in a cement light pole didnt stop drove off like nothing happened. luckily only broke fender

the front end didnt correct when i let off the throttle, it was wet from rain... i ended up in a ditch on top of a concrete sewer pipe

umm left tie rod
front lower power brace
ran over my front lip
broke power steering lines
and broke precious jdm bumper lights
and of course all front end body pieces

I broke the front left tension rod (ripped off at the leading bolt hole), scratched my hook and took out the windshield (pole went through in front of the passenger side headrest, thank got I was driving solo).

I was trying to drift an off camber corner at a too high of a speed when a car started coming in the other lane (which I was bound to swing into), so I slammed the braked, hopped a curb, and took out a fence at about 5-10 MPH by the time I touched curb.

I got lucky and have stopped drifting in poor locations since the incident, always remember to pre-run your drift spots and don't be like me. Best of luck to you guys, you'll need it.

Concrete Wall: Zenki front end (DUI open-diff manji)

Curbs (3 different incidents): 2 FLCAs, tension rod, 3 steelies, drivers rear everything:

Mtns: passenger side rear quarter:

And last year I was coming down the mtn and hit an old F150 4x4 that was drivers rear quarter panel, drivers taillight, rear bumper reinforcer, passenger side rear quarter
(if you look closely in the pic you can see where I hammered the panel out on the drivers side)
And a back window last Christmas morning:

You can't see them in the video, but there were tall, skinny, flappy reflectors that lined that off ramp, I went over like 3 and they slapped and popped out my back window.

P.S. only decent thread in this whole section :nono

the only thing i have broken while being sideways in my 240 was pretty much the entire car itself... lets see, wraped it into a tree, all suspencion on driver side, door, windows, hatch, motor mounts, crispy interrior... and thats what happens when you get cut off by a tourist when your doing 90 in the left lane... word of the weise if you ever find yourself on the gardenstate parkway in jersey either drive faster or stay to the right... thanks ;) lol

Drifting= Things Break

Well i'll start off with, Ibroke this:
Image

My 1991 vlsd hicas 5 speed I totaled 6 months ago, but its all good now cuz i'm on a diff shell sr. But this is what it looked like after i stripped it but the dent in the side was from being WRAPPED around a telephone pole, literally, but it drove home like this with also a blown strut and cv joint. But yeah my vlsd went out and i was drifting one wheel peel and it decided to kick in and off into the pole i went.
But Here is a list of others i broke:
Bent Two Wheels
3-4 control arms
messed up both my bumpers
my fenders are all cracked up
2 tension rods
and too much more too list
