I looked through the FSM i downloaded and it doesn't show what kind of oil the power steering takes. My car didn't come with a car manual eather so .... :help

i use ATF fluid, dextron 3 i think, or something like that. dont use PS fluid, the nissan pumps are different.

ok i was wondering there is the break res. then behind it close almost touching the firewall there is a little white res what the heck is that?

So the ka24e res for the PS is on the left but on the DE its on the right... weird... lol
well my PS fluid is definatly low. My dad says the little white thing is my slave cylinder for my clutch? and it uses break fluid? :12dunno

That'd be the clutch Master. the slave is under the car and is what moves the clutch fork which pushes the throwout (sp?) bearing into the pressure plate, disengaging the clutch. And yes, its brake fluid. Before i get my 240 on the road im going to flush the (probably original from 1993) brake fluid and bleed both the clutch and brakes with fresh Castrol GT-LMA.

well i added some oil in both. Less tranny noise and the power steering works now that it has oil lol....

Well... the PS on the 240sx S13 feels like shit aka jello. So when i drop my de its going to be taken out.

actually, the PS on a nissan is very nice compared to domestic cars. we've owned both and ive noticed a big difference in how tight my steering is compared to a domestic.

EDIT: also, make sure you replace the steering rack with a manual steering one, or else you'll destroy the non-functional PS one. and you also need some kind of tensioner pulley for the water pump.

If you have an SR, the power steering belt is seperate from the rest, so you can just remove that one belt, and that's that.
Could you even get a manual rack for a 240? I thought power steering was standard.
I'm relieved that I finally found the power steering leak that has plagued my car ever since I've owned it. It appears to be a hose going from the pump to a ps fluid cooler attached to the radiator. I always thought that the cooler was just a hardline running along the front of the lower crossmember. Or maybe that's just with an S14.
