bmw's and porsche's triptronic are manually controlled autos, not really any different than a normal auto. they still have a torque converter and still shift just as slow. now the SMG and ferrari's F1 gear box are automatically shifted manuals, they have a clutch, but it is controlled by hydraulics instead of the clutch pedal. those actually can shift faster than a person.
YEAH! ;), what he said.

The padal shift sequential manuals on the high end ferrari's are the best way to go with those cars and sometimes the only way you can get them, ofcourse some people think there the same transmission type that are used on acuras, lexus etc. . . when thier not.

So I understand now that a Stick kills and Auto. Cant I just turn my Auto into a Stick?? My other option is buying a s14 240. That means Ill have to raise 2k$ plus sale my s13. I over heard That coverting into a stick is about 4-6 hundred bucks.

this is wrong. the time between gears with an auto is dependent on the way the ECU is programed. and with every auto i've ever driven, the ECU is programed for slow shifts because people who buy auto's want comfort and convienence, not speed.
tell that to my TH-350, or my TH-700R4 :)

i want a stick now :(.......
You wanted a PS2, now you want a manual transmission. ;)

Anyways, driving a stick is better, because when you're drift in auto it's much easier to mess up, not only your tranny when it goes, but you gotta worry about your limited slip. So therefore, manual is much cheaper too. I guess...tell me if I'm wrong guys. I don't have a car yet. I'm just guessing.

It used to be that Manual was better than Automatic five years ago. But now Auto's are about as fast as Manual's, because of our advancements in technology. But in Drag Racing, auto's are obviously the better choice, since you won't have to worry about a mis-shift. And those are some pretty heavy-duty auto tranny. :D :D :D
