i tried searching for the answer to my question but came up empty i want to know what weight motor oil should be used for the first time i start the engine up after the swap ive heard that 20w/50 for the first 500 miles then change out for 10w/30 and using synthetic oils would be fine At the place where im getting it installed said to not use synthetic motor oil because it is to thin and the engine will start leaking at the gaskets etc ???? the engine is a s13 sr20det red top One more question is the denso irridium spark plugs for a us 91 b13 sentra the same plugs that will fit a sr20det cold plugs thanks for any help

i use regular 10w30 in mine. never anything different. i don't use synthetics because i change it very frequently (1500-2000 miles).

Everyone I know uses 10w30, I have used mobil 1 10w30 for about 2 years.

i like 15w50 in my 3000gt, synthetic only.
it seems higher performance cars like the thicker oils (better protection), but if you are making a lot of power, you might notice a slight power increase with some good (expensive) 10w30 or 5w30 synthetic oil. also, it all depends on what kind of climate you are in, it rarely gets cold here, so i running thick oil all the time isnt a problem for me, especially since synthetic will pretty much flow good no matter what.

I used mobil driveclean (has more detergents) for the first 3000 miles of the swap to help clean the engine a little then switched to mobil 1 10w30 for the rest of the time.

After my rebuild and using convention for the 600 mile break-in period, i switched and use nothing but Quaker State or Mobil 1 10w30 synthetic.

IF YOU FUCKERS SEARCHED OR READ THE FSM.. YOU WOULD KNOW THE MANUAL SAYS TO USE 5w30-10w30 DEPENDING ON CLIMATES!!!

Im irritated to see this question every other week.

Is he asking for a rebuilt motor first start? if so use 10w40 NON SYNTHETIC for the first 1500miles. after that u can use whatever oil u like.

240wit-some of us dont have a manual. but i use the 10w30 all the time. i live in ga. never gets too cold here.
