Ok so I was bound and determined to do the vq30 into the 240 but I checked out engineswaptech.com and realized I would go insane before i ever finished the car. I know this is a 240 sight but i was wondering if anyone knows someone or has seen a 99 maxima converted converted into a rear wheel drive. It already has the tunnel all the way down the car and to me it just seems more feasable to do that than the 240 swap.

don't mind him hes a douche lol jk jk jk

but anywho

not worth the time / money / fabrication

unless you already have the engine but if you don't then don't waste your time and money the vg wasn't all that great of an engine and don't even try to say "o, you've never owned one" because I have and I prefer an sr or and rb over it anyday.

by the time you got finished with it you would have spent enough money to buy a supra...

No one has ever, ever made a RWD Maxima, besides the earlier gen maximas that actually came RWD.

With "converting" the Maxima to RWD, you're going through all the work to put a VQ in a 240. You have to fab motor mounts to make it a longitudally mounted engine, versus transversely, then you have to have a RWD transmission/custom shifter linkages, extending every single piece of the harness, or taking some away, etc. THEN, after all that, you still have to custom fab a complete rear end assembly, and bang out a tunnel for the driveshaft, and somehow find room underneath the Maxima for exhaust to exit as well.

Have you owned a VG or a VQ? They are completely different engines. I love the VQ engine. If it wasn't so involved to swap in, I would choose to do a VQ swap versus anything else reasonably.

Just a side note, The VQ series engine has been named one of Ward's 10 best engines every single year since 1995 when the VQ debuted in the 95 Maxima. It's good shit.

I can say the shit I took earlier was one of the Worlds Best shits, but that doesn't necessarily make it true ;). I never give credence to those types of things as what criteria went into it? Now whilst the VQ is by all means a good engine, I wouldn't say it's anything "amazing." However yes, a VG and a VQ are both VERY different engines.

With that said, a RWD Maxima? I hope you have deep, deep pockets and/or are smart as hell.

if you think you would go insane putting a vq in a 240... you will kill your self converting a maxima to rwd.

if you are looking in the v6 nissans that are rwd, possibly try looking into a used infiniti j30. like a 95-97 or something. its similar to the maxima.

there i answered this ridiculous ass question nicely!

I hear ya...but if you want to check it out, here: http://wardsauto.com/

It's not truly amazing, but I still love it. It's one of the only things allowing me to still enjoy driving my Maxima.

But congrats on the world's best shit!:thumbsup
