I'm sure many of you have been through the same crap that I have, of breaking your SR/KA tranny when you have more than 400hp. Well I have searched a lot for good uprgrade options without really any good options. I recently was introduced to a great fabricator who in collaboration has decided to make an adaptor plate for the Z32 trans out of the 300zx. This trans is good for about 700hp. The full kit is a couple of weeks away, but the adaptor plate is done and has been bolted to the SR with success...
I will post pics later tonight.

I would like to gauge interest in this upgrade..so hit me back with any comments.

thanks

Ok...here are some of the firs pics.
The plate looks awesome. Very high quality!
I sent some followup questions to him and will relay the responses soon.

Thanks for all the replies.

Ok..the shifter will sit within 1 inch back of where the stock shifter is. Overall this won't make any difference. But we won't know FOR sure until he gets a shifter bolted up. The trans he got did not come with the shifter assembly but he's got another shifter on the way.

In terms of the bolts, he told me that only top of the trans would be bolted to the block. The bottom bolts are not necessary. He used to be the driver for Titan Motorsports in 2003 and they have 1300hp supras with only 4 bolts holding the trans to the motor..so for our purposes this should be fine. The bellhousing is machined such that when the adaptor plate is in place the bottom of the trans will be flush with the motor.

ok..more to come later

Price will be about 500$ for the swap kit, but then you have to source your own trans and likely have to get a custon driveshaft made.

surprisingly the gearing of the Z32 is very close to the SR.
Z32... Gear ratios are: 1st 3.21, 2nd 1.93, 3rd 1.30, 4th 1.00, 5th 0.75 for the manual.

SR...1st 3.321, 2nd 1.902, 3rd 1.308, 4th 1.00, 5th 0.759

In terms of shifter position..it will be -1" from KA/SR since they both
have the same shifter position. At this point the adapter plate will
only be for SR20, since the KA starter is bigger and sits slightly in
a different orientation, this plate cannot be used. But if the SR swap works out, then there is always a potential to expand it to KA.

i'm really glad about the response this is getting. I can't wait till it's done because I'm sure a lot of you have been in the same boat as me, in terms of needing a beefed up tranny.

the kit is being developed by Mazworx..a company that specializes in high performance, drag racing custom components.

more pics to come soon

we also have to make a custom shifter assembly but not a big deal. We will be ready for test fitment in a car later this week.
