Intercooler WITHOUT cutting "crash bar"

Are there any aftermarket companies that offer intercooler kits that DO NOT require you to cut the factory bumper support. I like the idea of a better intercooler, but don't like the idea of cutting the factory bumper support. I mean, it was put there for a reason and I would hate to have my motor in my lap due to a front end collision.

Or am I better off getting a smaller core and having piping done at a local shop?

i got a greddy front mount and the bumper support cleared. the silvia bumper suport has two holes cut in it for more air flow. they only clear by like an inch. if you wreck you will have to buy a new ic. but it might save your life.

all the greddy ones? BTW this is for an S14.

On my hybrid which is 3 inches wide, I needed to cut quite a bit from the support. I welded a quarter inch piece of 90 degree steel in its place. Its hard to explain but I cut enough away to where there was still structure, and inside that hollow piece reinforced it. I trust it to a head on, its not like the stock one is super protective compared to my dad's 70 chevy truck's bumper.

kevin, just go custom. i saved about $100 going custom and that was before boost factory and others were up and running - you could probably save more now that there are more fabricators around.

I just talked to Chuck at Boost Factory and he gave me a rough quote of $500-750 for everything. The $750 range would be for polished aluminum piping.

I have the greddy for the KA S14 and I had to cut the crap out of the support but it is still there. The S13 greddy bolted up wit just a little triming
any pics? How much can you safely remove without taking away from the structural integrity of the support?

we had to do a teensy bit of fabreecation for this (make two small mounting tabs,) and use one longer silicone hose, but the Hybrid dynamics kit for an s13 fit just fine.

Was pretty damn cheap, too. excllent quality parts for about 500 bucks shipped.

We did have to cut the impact bumper and narrow it/reinforce it with some steel plates

here's what that looked like.

how did you mount your bumper? just by the fenders?

i cut out the center just beyond the part that slides into the subframe on each side, so my bumper wouldnt fall off.
mine looks just like nrg's and i go splat's. i still have the bumper mount thing but i had to tweak it a little with the upper ic mounts
what did y'all use to cut the metal bumper?

what's the point of keeping those bumper when the support/mounting plates are almost non-existent. it wont resist a crash at all that way.

my favorite is Ruskers, custom core and endtanks, fit right where the A/C unit did infront of the radiator, sleeperific too
